Congratulations to Cameron Fitton RoC’s graduate engineer, who has been awarded The Michael Horne Prize  2021.

This award is in memory of Professor Michael Horne OBE FREng FRS, in recognition of the outstanding contributions made by him to structural engineering and to higher education. The Prize is awarded to a student in the final year of a degree course who completes an outstanding research development or design project with a structural engineering bias.

Cameron’s award winning dissertation was ‘Soil-Structure Interaction in masonry arch bridges’ which was entered as the best dissertation from a student of the University of Salford.  Cameron was also competing against the best student papers from other top North West universities including, University of Manchester, University of Liverpool, Liverpool University John Moores and University of Central Lancashire.

Presenting Cameron’s award is Martin Powell  Chief executive of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
